Miami Hotels South Beach is the place to be to get a suntan! Known as the sunshine state, Florida is the southernmost state (outside of Hawaii) the sun shines two-thirds of the time that it possibly can. Some of the best places to sunbathe is Miami are Haulover Beach, for the best all over tan as it is a clothing optional beach, Hobe Beach is where locales and tourists can bring Fido who will love the sand, and anywhere on Ocean Drive, really.
Steps to a great tan
1. Exfoliate
2. Moisturize
3. Hydrate
4. Reapply
Exfoliate
Dead skin can block the rays of the sun resulting in a truly uneven tan. Make sure to exfoliate skin with a non-abrasive scrub. Create one with a sugar base and include local ingredients like mango or papaya the night before heading to the shoreline. Wet skin burns easier than dry does so make sure to towel off before hitting the sand.
Moisturize
Preferred sunscreens include heavy duty moisturizes. Sun can parch the skin leading to flakes, which can result in an uneven tan. Make sure to choose a brand without alcohol and with a lux texture. Some websites may encourage coconut oil to bake in moisture, but the lack of sun protection may result in a severe burn that might require medical attention.
Apply
Sunscreen should be evenly applied consistently and if sweating profusely, hourly. Some brands are waterproof, but none are towel proof. Multiple dips in the pool or ocean require a dry off which will wipe off protection. Reapply every two hours and wait at least twenty minutes before returning to water. Skin needs at least twenty minutes to absorb sunscreen.
Hydrate
Skin is the largest organ and it needs water! Sun will dry the skin, but it can be counteracted by constant hydration. Alcohol dries out the body as does coffee or soda. Always choose water.
Miami style
Miami is not a city that is shy. The smaller the bikini the better is the standard way of thinking. Most beaches can be made into topless ones. A sea of tasteful Brazilian thongs line the shore without judgment. Choose a colorful or if in the case of Haulover, there are no rules as it is a nudist beach for those that want to eschew tan lines. Locales at before going to the beach so they can go during peak hours of 10 am-2pm. Anywhere along Ocean Drive works for visitors to achieve the perfect tan.
Miami heat
Miami is a humid city. Summer months can be quite toasty during the hours of right after ten o’clock in the morning and three in the afternoon, when the sun is at its hottest. Miamians tend to either go to the beach in the morning or around sunset. The middle hours are generally considered for visitors who have the option of a cabana or poolside drinks. Miamians also use store bought sunscreen over baby oil or coconut oil, which can result in a streaky tan.
